These colors don't run...

They sprint, to Walmart twice a week to buy cheap, import goods that were once regional, quality products sold at your local grocery store by owners you knew. Look on the back of your "Support Our Troops" magnetic decal you slapped on the back of your SUV, powered by gasoline from oil drilled in Saudi Arabia, guess where that decal was made? Probably China, Bangladesh or Pakistan. All countries who have little use for us other than to take our money, certainly not our friends. Yet, we keep funneling money to them to keep providing us gas, TVs, DVDs, Barbie dolls and millions of other items made for pennies.

I guess what I'm trying to get at here is the inconsistency of people who wave the flag and claim to be oh so patriotic, yet make little or no effort to support the American worker. We can blame the chain stores of America for pushing the small shops out of business but the fact of the matter is it goes back to supply and demand. If we refuse to buy from them, then they have no choice but to either change their policies and business model or go out of business. Companies like Walmart provide goods that are sometimes much cheaper than your mom and pop local grocery but at what cost to your neighborhood? There are reasons cities like San Francisco or New York will not allow a Walmart in their area, it's because it destroys nearly everything in it's vicinity.

The other thing we should ask ourselves, do we really need a new TV or a new car? Is what we are about to buy necessary and does it really make our lives better. We're a society that has become accustomed to buying the newest gadget and trying to get it at the lowest price when in fact, maybe we should pull back and think about if we actually need it. Does it give meaning to your life or are we buying it just because everyone else has it?

This year, on Black Friday, I'm suggesting that we spend absolutely no money at any of the big box stores. If we buy anything, buy it from a local merchant, spend money with someone you know. Go to a flea market, an antique store, a local fishing tackle store and make your purchases there. That is being patriotic.

  1. So does this also mean that we should be boycotting products produced by Unions? Their demands for benefits have driven prices through the roof on American made products. Yes there is a demand for cheaper products, but they will never again be made in the USA, because Unions have made that impossible. Sure there was a time that they stood up for safety standards and against child labor, but dude it is time to let go of that argument. That is not the current condition of things. But hey, things may be looking up for you Manny. If the current administration keeps running the dollar into the ground, there will come the day when China has their goods made here, because it will be cheaper.

  2. Corporations will use any excuse they can get to go to cheap labor and unions are their favorite scapegoat. Remember, happy medium.

  3. This has nothing to do with corporations, as if they were the epitome of evil anyways. Incase you haven't noticed there is a correlation between low overhead and competitive pricing. Unions dramatically raise overhead and that has to be paid for on the bottom line. Government sector jobs such as Police and Fire Dept.s should not be allowed to Unionize due to the fact that the only ones that the costs can be passed on to are the Tax payers. How patriotic is that? We who are supposed to be protected by their services are getting hosed with higher costs. When a City Commission or County Commission is faced with higher budget demands to provide the same level of service, what are they to do? Say no? Come on man. If a person in todays time is so unsatisfied with their pay or benefits package they have the freedom to move on to another industry. Problems with Unions are not just some abstract Neo-Con boogy man. They are a HUGE problem.

I had a serious thought today that I would like for you to consider. I mean seriously think about this. How is it that is it that the party that is supposed to be protecting jobs via the Unions is also in favor of more open borders and the cheap labor provided by illegal immigration? At first this seems like an oxymoron. It really made me wonder for a while, but if you consider the outside the box notion that there really is a move toward not just socialism afoot but even further towards communism then it makes sense. These illegal immigrants are coming in hordes from countries that are either on the verge of a communism or have already had a revolution either successful or not. This increases the population of people in our country that have much less opposition towards the ideas of socialistic doctrines. This is the ultimate aim of the Union leadership. If the scales are to be tipped they must use some serious tricks. One of them that is talked about in the Communist Manifesto is that they need to ruin the economy to the point that there is an outcry for social services. Then they start public protests and violence and create a higher demand for security. This allows totalitarian regimes to be set up with higher public acceptance. Labor Unions have always been a part of this, through organizing labor and demonizing the rich. Unions are not just a little problem. Unless you are interested in having your liberties snatched from under you, you must be more aware. I smell something nefarious! I am not a conspiracy nut, but some of this is obvious. What if there is a former high ranked member of the administration who is a self confessed communist on the record saying that the high end of the revolution is now in place, but what is lacking is an uprising from below? What if these crazy ideas that are coming from a right wing nut job are right? What if there really is a move in place to tear down our country as we know it?

    Proud member of the Bourgeoisie.

  4. As long as there is illegal immigrants, there will be companies eager to bring them on and pay them half of what they pay a citizen. That's why they don't want the borders enforced and at the same time oppose amnesty because then, they'd have to pay a living wage.

As I recall, Bush and McCain, among others, were all for immigration reform not too long ago.

  5. Did you not read the rest? There is a ton more important stuff said above. Besides neither Bush nor McCain are anywhere near conservatives. And on top of that, McCain was close to becoming a Dem. Please address the rest.

  6. I just fail to see why unions who don't want illegal immigrants taking jobs away from their dues-paying members would support a party that would allow illegal immigrants to continue to come in. I believe they're in favor of amnesty and other such policies because it would then remove an illegal labor pool that companies have come to rely upon. I don't see some socialistic plot, I just don't. The immigrants you always hear people complain about are the ones from Mexico or Central America, not some communist country.

Like I said, they have all had their Revolutions or attempts. The reason that the Immigrants tie in is because they ARE THE PROLETARIAT. They are the exact people that Revolutions come from. Poor, oppressed, works, students.

Don't blow this off. Your first sentence really boils it down. Why is there support for Unions coming from the same party that is in favor of Amnesty.

Dude, come on. This is a plot. One that must be taken seriously. Dude, I do understand that you are a bit more towards center than these guys, but to have your head so far in the sand regarding this issue is not good.

  8. It sucks that all of the links don't work, but I do hope that you will check into this more and ask your self WHY IS THERE UNIONS WHO SHOULD SUPPORT AMERICAN WORKERS INVOLVED IN A PARTY THAT SUPPORTS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I get the point you're trying to make, I just don't see a union trying to undermine the very mission it has in the first place. Amnesty and a path to citizenship gives the union more members and less competition from illegal immigrants. Many companies would not want that because it takes away their cheap labor pool and forces them to use documented labor.

  10. Wow, the indoctrination is deep with this one....

  11. Not indoctrination, just logic.

  12. I am pretty sure that with all of the links from the Communist groups listed above logic would have won out, but it still has not. There is a problem. There should be an issue if the Unions are what they say, but there is not. As a matter of fact there are hugs where there should be animosity. It is plain to see that Illegal immigration benefits Unions in the long run. Is it just that you hope that I am not right about this? Or is it that you reject what the Communist groups above have to say along with me?

  13. I know some people who are self-proclaimed Communists who actually vote Republican. They believe that liberals are actually slowing down the march towards the revolution they are hoping for. Remember, every single communist regime did not come in by the ballot box, it came to be by way of the muzzle of a gun.

  14. I have seen some Commies speaking ill of the Neo-Liberals. They do have a tendency of slowing down the march toward a full out revolution in that they drip drip drip in the Socialist programs when the Commies want to push things much quicker. They are hoping that the current economic situation will push things over the edge.
