I firmly believe that if he was alive today, the pompous talk show pundits would be lined up like the Pharisees to condemn him to death or at least have him investigated for "un-American activities".

WWJD?
Seriously, what would Jesus do? Forget the ideas your political party spouts and really think, what would Jesus do? It seems that people who call themselves like to pick and choose which parts of his teachings they want to follow. If they agree with something he said and they can line it in with what they find politically or socially expedient, then they'll crow about how that's what Jesus would do. However, find something not quite so easy, like taking care of the poor or sick, forgiving your enemies, or how it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven and they'll change the subject or find some borderline irrelevant quote from the Old Testament to justify their position.

Interesting post, but I am not sure of the point I guess. Are you saying then that you have become a believer in Jesus Christ? If not, I find it is a bit of shaky ground to hold folks to a standard that you don't hold your self to.
ReplyDeleteThere is a huge difference between what a person does on an individual level vs. what the Govt. does. The Christian is to give out of a cheerful heart, but in what way is there to be cheer when the Govt. robs what was to be used for charity? Then they squander it on things contrary to the Christian's belief system.
I firmly believe that the pundits from MSNBC would have Him banned from speaking due to his stands on things telling people to go and sin no more.
Pointing out what I believe to be hypocrisy. I believe in alot of the teachings of Jesus, just not the whole son of God bit.
ReplyDeleteHypocrisy is a big deal, but the trouble with pointing out hypocrisy is that it often times shows one of our own.
