What's good for the goose...

The amazingly hypocritical thing this election cycle are the people who were just recently so shrill about the "imminent threat" of Shariah law. Yet, many of these very people if given the chance, would impose their own version of fundamentalist law on us. Radical Islam is now about where Christianity was back when they burnt people they suspected of being witches and the far right would take us back in time to that point. Ok, so perhaps those of us who like The Cure instead of Gregorian chant wouldn't be burned at the stake but we'd have our Ipods reprogrammed and High Times magazine would be harder to find than a woman in the priesthood.

You don't think they'd force their beliefs down our throats? I've been around enough far-right gatherings and it's no secret the "true believers" would like to take away things like alcohol, pornography and reverse longstanding policies like the separation of church and state. These are the same people who are claiming that their freedoms are being taken away from them but are salivating at the prospect of taking away the freedoms we enjoy that they find objectionable.

And that, that is hypocrisy at it's finest.

  1. Is it not true that the Left does similar forms of things? They support the ACLU while enforcing their brand of Political Correctness. Ask Juan Williams how NPR appreciates his non-correct views on Islam. Sure there are those on the Right that would limit things like Strip Clubs but there are those on the Left that imply that those with differing opinions on things like Global Warming should be killed. There is also the example of branding anyone who disagrees with the Left on Homosexuality with the label Homophobe. I am sure that you, when you strain your Intellectual Honesty you find that this is merely human nature to over look one's one sins.

  2. Even being totally honest, that second paragraph is dead-on. I couldn't have said it better.

  3. Don't forget that the ACLU supports all free speech, even when it's the most hateful racist stuff. There's people equally pissed on the left about Juan Williams and what happened to him, especially when what he said was liberal, just not PC.
