What not to do on a dating site (for women)
- Avoid shots where you look like a psycho. Yes, you might be crazy but at least try to hide it. The eyes are the window to your soul but sometimes curtains might be a good idea.
- If every shot is showing off your boobs, I’m gonna go ahead and assume that’s your best and only worthwhile feature.
- If you’re only 10 or 20 lbs over your ideal weight, you are not a “BBW”. Perhaps you should realize that most men aren’t as conscious about pounds as you are.
- If you’re over 300 pounds, you’re not a “BBW”, you’re fat and probably obese. Again, let’s not kid ourselves.
- Don’t complain about how every man just wants to hook up with you when every photo on your profile makes you look easy. If in doubt, refer to rule #2.
- Back to rule 2, again. If you state that you’re not looking for one night stands but every profile photo has cleavage shots, don’t be surprised if men are getting mixed messages.
- Don’t bother if you’re pregnant or just popped out a kid. While men aren’t always shallow, it does kind of bother some of us that we’re dealing with the product of your last failed relationship or one night stand. Get back to us when your kid is not dependent on you every moment of the day.
- Post recent photos of yourself. Nothing screams dishonesty like meeting someone and finding that they look very little like their online photo.
- Don’t look or sound desperate, especially when it comes to the whole ring, marriage and baby bit. While your biological clock might be ticking, that’s not something we want to discuss on at least the first half dozen dates.
- If you post photos that even hint that you are open to messing around with other women and you aren’t, that’s just wrong. We hate false advertising and fairy tales. I can equate it to the time when we found out Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny didn’t exist.
- Try to limit your cell phone self portraits to just one or two. We’d like to think you have friends who can take photos for you and that you’re not that alone.
- While some of us appreciate goth, emo and punk rock girls, there’s a difference between expressing yourself by being unique like millions of other people with the same look and coming across as scary or crazy.
